PAULA'S 2011 CHALLENGE

Weeks 17, 18, 19, 20
Okay so I'm ahead of myself here, but that is a good thing! I'm sure the next few weeks will be a challenge due to my schedule and an upcoming vacation, however, that is really no excuse!  I will be taking Krista's Gated album class this week, so I may count that one too!
This is a fun layout using Fancy Pant's new Beach Babe papers and chipboard embellishments. I blinged it up with some stickles and paper flowers.

This is a layout using BoBunny's Ad-lib paper and embellishments. I love, love, love the pompom notions, and how the bright colours make dull September day pop!

I stumbled upon this wrist band from Dylan's surgery last year, and really wanted to create a layout to remember this moment.  Thankfully he doesn't remember how traumatic the whole experience was, but he will forever treasure his stuffed tiger (he named Time's Up) that the nurse gave him to keep him company and bring home afterwards.

Weeks 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16
Okay, this has definitely been a challenge for me the past few weeks...but I have several projects that are now complete. A couple were for classes I taught, a couple were classes I took in Edmonton, and a couple were just for me.

For Me - Using Creative Imaginations layered stickers, Tim Holtz Distress Stickles, Heidi Swapp Inkable letters and KI Alphabet Soup acrylic letters, and some Disney bling.
For Retreat Class - Making Memories papers, American Crafts Ribbon, Circle and Butterfly punches, Alcohol inks and Smooch.
For Me - Frame - Just a cheap frame from the dollar store, hammered it with Tim Holtz Distress hammer, painted with Making Memories Paint & then a layer of Tim Holtz Rock Candy Crackle paint, sanded a bit and then inked all over with Tim Holtz Distress stains.  Class in Edmonton - 4 tags in a class with THE Tim Holtz! So many techniques, from Distress stains to alcohol inks, glassine paper to tissue tape.  Watch for these items in the store!

For Class in Store - Envelope album using Little Yellow Bicycle's Twig line (no longer available), Hemp thread, Stickles, handmade flowers, stamps and smooch ink.

Class in Edmonton - Using Graphic 45's Le Cirque paper line, metal flowers & brads, Geometric Door plate and knob, and a lot of fussy cutting we made this fun chipboard album.  Not sure what I will do with it...but most likely it will feature the 'circus' that is my family life!
Class in Edmonton - Another 'Twig' inspired creation. We made this cute note pad using this fantastic line. But it could easily be replicated with any pretty papers. Doilies are hot right now, ink, spray, or just leave as is they add a delicate touch to any project.

Week 10
Still a few weeks behind, but slowly I'm getting caught up.  I have a few projects on the go, mostly for classes but some are from the Retailers Event, so once they are finished up I'll be posting...
This week's layout is also being used for my Scrap Club projects - using Teresa Collins birthday themed paper and cut out tags.  To make the candles, I cut up 1 inch pieces of random scraps and rolled them around a thin paint brush and adhered them with Sookwang tape (super strong).  Add a few tags with some pop up dots and there you go!

Week 9ish...
I am finally getting back to this challenge...the last two weeks have been a whirlwind , the end of our production 'Music Man' and the end of an era at Kersley Musical Theatre. I'm hoping to get some layouts done to show off our amazing run.

I have finished a one page layout featuring Echo Park's 'Little Boy' paper line. It was pretty simple, using paper tearing, inking and a journalling spot, I completed this layout in less than an hour!

So now to plan a layout for my next scrapclub group...I will be featuring Teresa Collins' Birthday line...so keep your eyes open for this layout next week.  I'm heading to Edmonton on Friday for a 3 day retailer event and I'm going to be taking a class with Tim Holtz!!! I'm so excited to meet one of my all time favorite scrapbooking gurus!

Week 7 & 8
So I've been a little busy these past few weeks, rehearsals for 'The Music Man' are ramping up and the show is starting on Monday, Feb 21st! Got your tickets?

The following layout is a 2 page layout that I have designed for my Scrap Club, using Echo Park's 'Sweet Summertime' paper line. I'm missing the sunshine as I'm sure most of you are, so this layout brings a little sunshine to my pages.  We don't always have to add bling to make a page pop (although it bling always makes it fun!) I was playing with my new border punch and layered the patterned paper and cardstock rather than just layer plain strips. And for some fun homemade embellishments I pulled out my circle punches and created some cute layered and distressed flowers.

I also have a cute boy page using Echo Parks 'Little Boy' paper line, so keep your eyes open for that one. I'll probably post it before week 9 mostly because I will be a little busy until March 5th!  Happy Scrappin'!

Week 6
With a patterned paper as my back ground, I used left over embellishments and stickers from my stash to add dimension to the flowers on the patterned paper. A quick and simple page, that helped me use up some left over supplies!

Week 4 & 5
Here is a two page layout (hence week 4 AND 5) of our trip to Disneyland and the joy of meeting all of the different Disney Characters. They were way more available than I had expected, and at times a bit overwhelming, but overall a very magical experience!  No real techniques were used, just a linear layout that got the point across. I used the Echo Park letter & number stickers to identify the different characters and then matched them up in my journaling. A simple way to gather different pictures into a common theme. And I added a little bit of Stickles to the dot pattern to give it some sparkle.

Week 3

So this week I have been inspired for 2 reasons - 1st I needed to get a project put together for the next 2 Scrapclubs, and I just love the new paper from SEI 'With All My Heart'.  Flowery with a little shine to it!
So using a sketch I found on-line I put the layout together quite quickly.  I have never put a banner on a layout before, and they seem to be hot right now so I just cut up a few triangles, inked, matted and popped them up! Not too difficult and it adds some dimension to this simple layout.  I also used the 'Love Notes' chipboard elements from Maya Road with some Glimmer Mist and Smooch, my little blue bird is so cute!

So how did you do this week? Did you get MORE than 1 page done? I'd love to see them, and remember I will post your layouts on the blog if you send them to me - apageintime@telus.net

Week 1 & 2
Okay, 2011 here we go!  I have decided to challenge myself this year, creatively. I didn't really set it as a New Year's resolution, just a plan to do something I want to do, and enjoy doing. Scrapbooking! More of it.  As we  find ourselves busy with life, we tend to allow our creative needs to be set aside.  Yes, I still take tonnes of pictures, but I definitely don't scrapbook as many as I would like. And I'm even guilty of putting them in a box, or not developing them at all... So this is it. I have decided to record my creative challenge on the blog.

I plan to scrapbook one page per week. Starting January 1, 2011. So by the end of this year I should have 52 completed pages. This means that a 2 page layout should take me 2 weeks, and that is okay. I'm not sure if I am going to count cards in this challenge, but if card making is what you do, then by all means it counts for you!!!!

I want to be here to support your scrapping challenges and even the road blocks. I really would love to hear of your scrapping successes, so please email me and let me know how you are doing. Send me a jpeg (low resolution please) if you want and I will do my best to display it here on the blog (sometimes I can be technically challenged).

So here is my first completed page for 2011.  My title page for the Disney album I have been working on this past year. I still have quite a few layouts to go, but I'm hoping it will get finished before our next trip to the Magical Kingdom (2012).

I have also completed 18 birthday invitations for my son's upcoming birthday party.  I'm counting these as a page (heehee, I told you so!) for this week, although I do have my next layout in progress (pictures will be posted soon).

Dylan's Luigi's Mansion birthday invites for his 6th birthday. Used the Sizzix Haunted House embossing folder (borrowed from Krista Roessler - thanks again lady!) Made the moon glow with a gold paint pen and filled in some of the windows with Stickles just for fun!

Happy Scrappin'
